Mitel Appoints Mike Robinson as CEO to Lead Next Phase of Hybrid Communications Transformation

Robinson succeeds Tarun Loomba, bringing decades of telecom and infrastructure leadership and deep post-emergence expertise to accelerate growth, strengthen financial discipline, and create long-term customer value

OTTAWA, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mitel, a global leader in business communications, today announced that Mike Robinson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Tarun Loomba.

This change brings in a seasoned leader with the specific post-restructuring expertise needed to drive Mitel’s next phase of transformation, building on the strong foundation laid by Loomba.

Robinson has more than three decades of experience in telecom, infrastructure, and enterprise services, including leadership roles as CEO, CFO, and board director across public and private companies in the US and globally. He has successfully led companies through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and large-scale business transformations, and has a proven track record of guiding organizations through post-restructuring phases to long-term stability and growth.

Most recently, Robinson served as President and CEO of Sungard Availability Solutions and currently chairs Everstream Solutions, a fiber-based telecommunications carrier. With his appointment, Mitel is well-equipped to continue accelerating its growth during the post-emergence phase, while maintaining stability and a consistent strategy focused on delivering long-term customer, partner, and stakeholder value.

“Mitel has made tremendous progress under Tarun’s leadership, and I’m grateful for the strong foundation he and the team have built through the acquisition of Unify and the financial restructuring,” said Robinson. “This is an important moment for the company. My priority is to move quickly through this next phase by listening and engaging with employees, customers, and partners, and ensuring our strategy continues to create value for those we serve. Mitel has an incredibly strong and loyal customer base, and I am committed to demonstrating that same loyalty back to them through the value, reliability, and innovation we deliver.”

Loomba joined Mitel in 2020 as Chief Product Officer, taking on the role of CEO in 2021, and led the company through significant milestones, addressing global and market dynamics, driving hybrid communications innovation, and establishing Mitel as a market leader with more than 70M seats in over 100 countries.

Loomba added, “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, from navigating the pandemic to acquiring Unify to completing a successful restructuring, all of which strengthened Mitel’s foundation as a leading global communications vendor. The Mitel team and all our partners bring expertise and dedication to our customers that is not going to change. With Mike’s deep post-emergence experience, I am confident Mitel is positioned to accelerate even faster and deliver long-term customer value.”

With 92% of organizations prioritizing hybrid communications*, Mitel remains focused on delivering flexible, secure hybrid solutions that meet the rising enterprise demand across the most demanding industries and geographies.
