VALHALLA, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division, today announced the development of its FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD (“UA22x4.8”) broadcast zoom lens, designed for lightweight versatility ideal for a wide variety of production situations.
“There is strong demand for versatile zoom lenses that can cover everything from wide angles to telephoto in professional filming environments such as news reporting, studio production, and sports broadcasting,” said Stosh Durbacz, vice president, Sales, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division. “The new UA22x4.8 inherits many key features of the current FUJINON UHD/4K portable lens lineup. The expanded focal range enables successful production even in the most challenging spaces or environments.”
Main features:
Wide angle of 4.8 mm and a high magnification of 22x zoom
- Lightweight and compact design with a total length of 252 mm and a weight of approximately 2.2 kg. With its compact and lightweight body, it can reduce the operator’s physical burden during shoulder-mounted operation.
4K optical performance across the entire zoom range
- By utilizing the latest optical simulation technology and suppressing various types of aberrations, the lens achieves 4K optical performance across the entire zoom range. In addition, Fujifilm’s unique multi-layer HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) boasts high light transmittance and accurate color reproduction.
Equipped with features that support comfortable shooting
- Close-up capture is possible at a minimum object distance of 0.4 m across the entire zoom range. Combined with the 4.8 mm wide angle, this expands the range of filming in a variety of spaces.
- UA22x4.8 features a 16-bit encoder capable of outputting high-resolution lens data, including zoom and focus positions. It can be seamlessly integrated with various systems, including virtual studios that blend CG images with live footage.
FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD Broadcast Zoom Lens is due to be released in spring of 2026. Fujifilm plans to showcase the lens at the IBC2025, the world’s leading broadcasting media & tech show, to be held in Amsterdam from September 12-15, 2025.
