NEW YORK, Sept. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A new survey by DateMyAge, a global platform for age-positive connections online, reveals that for the vast majority of over-50s, life is far from slowing down. Many report career highs, the best sex of their life, and a renewed sense of self, with some even feeling 20 years younger than their passport says.
In the survey of 1,000 adults aged 50 and over, respondents shared they are far from slowing down:
- 45% feel more confident and attractive now than in their younger years;
- 83% feel better equipped to make life decisions than in their 30s, thanks to clearer priorities and stronger personal agency;
- 43% believe their most meaningful career move is still ahead of them;
- 72% feel mentally younger than they are, with 40% saying they feel at least 10–20 years younger;
- 70% say age becomes less important in a partner over time, as shared values matter more than a number;
- 52% say they’re having better sex now than when they were younger, suggesting desire and fulfillment grow with experience;
- 72% have been flirted with by someone much younger, and most admit they were happy to flirt back;
- 91% say experience and maturity are attractive.
“In earlier research we conducted, people in their 50s told us they were being written off professionally, underestimated socially, and even told outright they were ‘too old’ for certain things,” says Jaime Bronstein, LCSW, therapist and a resident expert at DateMyAge. “We’re done with this narrative. People in their 50s are telling us they’re thriving, vibrant, full of confidence and empowerment, and living some of their best years, and it’s about time society caught up and started treating them that way.”
The survey is part of DateMyAge’s upcoming LoveMyAge campaign, launching in September 2025, celebrating life after 50 as vibrant, adventurous, and full of possibility. The campaign includes a video series spotlighting people in their 50s and beyond living life to the fullest, and a TikTok challenge inviting users to describe their age not in numbers but in playful ways, like “old enough to clap when the plane lands” or “old enough to bring my own Tabasco sauce to a restaurant.” It’s a fun, positive spin on aging meant to inspire others to see these decades as some of the best yet.
