For David Marín, technology has never been about nifty gadgets. Instead he has always seen the human in the loop. He’s been inspired by entrepreneurs who turned late-night ideas into new companies and then went on to reshape or even invent whole industries. His natural curiosity was nurtured in the sun-bleached streets of Albolote, a small town in Andalusia. It later became the cornerstone of a career that has spanned AI, marketing, automation, and operations, one that has led him from southern Spain to Miami’s fast-paced and competitive real estate market.
“I’ve been really interested in technology since I was a kid,” Marín says. “Steve Jobs’ story had a huge influence on me, and later I became fascinated by Tesla, SpaceX, and Elon Musk. I didn’t see technology as just gadgets, I saw the stories behind them and the opportunities they created.”
Growing up in Spain, Marín admired entrepreneurs far more than athletes or entertainers. Technology was a frequent topic within his family. He developed a habit of exploring every new device or platform he could get his hands on. When he saved money, it often went toward computers, software, or other technology. But he wasn’t interested in technology as a status symbol. He wanted to figure out how all of this new incredible stuff worked.
“I don’t see tech as merely material objects,” he says. “I see the story behind each one and the opportunities they can offer.”
Learning by doing
Rather than waiting until he completed his education, Marín chose to start working while he was still studying, determined to understand how companies functioned beyond the classroom.
“I’ve always learned much faster by doing,” he explains. “You can study a concept in class, but you really understand it when you’re applying it to a real client, a real campaign, or a real business problem.”
His early career in Spain exposed him to digital marketing, ecommerce, sales, lead generation, and business development. Those experiences revealed something that has shaped the rest of his career. Many businesses were not struggling because they lacked customers or good products. Instead, they were slowed down by fragmented systems, inefficient workflows, and repetitive, tedious manual tasks that prevented teams from focusing on higher-value work.
Rather than viewing artificial intelligence as another fashionable technology, Marín began exploring how it could address those practical business problems and realize its promise.
“My main professional principle is that artificial intelligence should solve a real problem,” he says. “I have never believed a company should use AI simply because it’s popular.”
Solutions that matter
That philosophy guided his work at AndaluzIA Marketing, where he served as AI sales and marketing manager. The role saw Marín lead a team of six while working on client acquisition, sales systems, marketing automation, funnels, and AI implementation. He later expanded his expertise at El Almacén Fotovoltaico, contributing to SEO, SEM, branding, content strategy, automation, and digital growth. Then he joined Debook as a sales manager. At Debook, he focused on lead management, AI-assisted appointment setting, and commercial development.
Across every role, the industries differed, but his approach remained remarkably consistent: understand the business process first, then determine where technology can improve it.
“Creating an impressive AI demonstration is much easier than building a system that a real company can use every day,” Marín says. “Because a system has to work, it has to be reliable, understandable, and connected to a clear business objective.”
Welcome to Miami
The opportunity to put those ideas into practice on a larger stage came when he moved from Granada to Miami. For Marín, moving over the Atlantic meant more than a new position. It meant working a different language, settling into a faster business culture in one of the most competitive real estate markets in the US.
“I had always imagined building part of my future in the United States,” Marín says. “Butactually moving here meant adapting to a different professional culture, working in English, and learning to operate in a much faster environment.”
Today, Marín serves as marketing and AI manager at Cervera Real Estate, where he works directly with José Cipriani, its director of sales. His responsibilities entail combining artificial intelligence, marketing, automation, lead management, content creation, CRM systems, and operational improvement. Much of his work centres on identifying inefficient processes, designing AI-supported workflows, improving communication, and helping transform digital attention into qualified business opportunities.
Just as importantly, he is laser focused on making technology approachable for people who are not technical specialists.
“I try to understand the problem before deciding which technology to use,” he explains. “Sometimes the most valuable work is actually removing any unnecessary complexity.”
While Marín does embrace automation, he believes AI works best when it complements human expertise rather than replacing it. “AI should support human judgment, not replace it,” he says. “Relationships, negotiations, strategic decisions, and sensitive situations all require experienced people.”
His educational background reflects the same balance between theory and practice. In 2024, he completed a Master in Business Administration at ThePower Business School alongside an associate degree in marketing and advertising from I.E.S. Ganivet in Granada. Fluent in Spanish, Marín is certified at C1 level in English. Any other languages? Mais oui! Marín is proficient in French and he has paired his formal education with real-world implementation.
Future plans
Looking ahead, Marín belieces his work will extend far beyond a single industry. Real estate currently provides the setting for many of his projects, but he believes the systems he develops could potentially benefit ecommerce, renewable energy, financial services, construction, professional services, and other sectors.
Marín says his long-term interests include marketing automation, conversational AI, lead intelligence, business process automation, CRM infrastructure, AI-powered search visibility, and custom business software. It’s quite a diverse crossection of today’s technology, but his goal remains unchanged, whatever the sector or discipline. Marín wants to build systems that help people work more effectively.
“I’m still at the beginning of my career,” Marín says, “and I don’t pretend to know everything. But what I can say is that I’ve always been willing to learn quickly, accept responsibility, and put myself in environments where expectations are high.”
According to Marín, AI was created to make life simpler, not to create more complexity. From the outset, AI was developed to make good business processes faster, clearer, and more effective. “That’s my philosophy,” he says. “We need to keep using innovation to solve real problems.”
