Partnership with Grady EMC delivers multi-gigabit-speed internet access to more than 13,000 members across three counties
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Conexon Connect, the rapidly growing internet service provider (ISP) formed by rural fiber broadband leader Conexon, has completed its twelfth electric cooperative fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network since the company’s launch in 2021.
The 1,800-mile multi-gigabit-speed network, built in partnership with Cairo, Georgia-based Grady EMC, is Conexon Connect’s seventh broadband project to be completed in the state. The network brings Connect’s total reach in rural Georgia to more than 158,000 homes and businesses and furthers its mission of connecting rural Americans with world-class fiber broadband.
The Connect, powered by Grady EMC, fiber network delivers reliable, affordable broadband access to all of the EMC’s 13,000 members across Grady, Decatur and Thomas counties. The Grady EMC partnership was announced in February 2023, with network construction officially completed in June 2025.
“Completing the Conexon Connect fiber project is an incredible milestone for Grady EMC and the members we serve,” said John Long, CEO of Grady EMC. “This is more than just internet—it’s about empowering our community to learn from home, work remotely, grow small businesses, access telehealth, and stay connected with loved ones like never before. This project truly shows what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared vision for a brighter, more connected future.”
Connect’s fiber-optic networks provide access to multi-gigabit-speed, symmetrical internet capabilities, offering the same fast download and upload speeds, while also enabling HD-quality phone service and the benefits of smart grid technology that modernize and future-proof partner co-ops’ electrical infrastructure to enhance resiliency and improve overall service reliability.
In partnership with electric co-ops and community entities nationwide, Conexon Connect’s growth trajectory as one of the nation’s premier rural ISPs continues. Today, the ISP has more than 20 FTTH projects across seven states, collectively set to reach nearly 500,000 rural homes and businesses upon completion.
