Align Technology Hosts 2026 Invisalign® Ortho Summit, Showcasing a “Beyond Possible” Vision for Connected Digital Orthodontics

A multi-day, immersive experience in Las Vegas brought orthodontists and practice teams together for peer-led clinical education, hands-on innovation, and a look at how Align is redefining what’s possible with digital orthodontic care

The Summit brought together more than 500 orthodontists and practice team members for an immersive, multi-day program built around the theme “Beyond Possible.” The event showcased how innovation and connected digital workflows are expanding what can be achieved in orthodontic care with solutions designed to help doctors visualize, plan, and treat with greater confidence and predictability using the Invisalign^® System.

The event also celebrated the orthodontists and practices who have helped expand the possibilities of Invisalign treatment through their expertise, innovation, and commitment to creating healthy, confident smiles for their patients for nearly 30 years.

Attendees explored how Align’s integrated portfolio across the Align™ Digital Platform, including the Invisalign^® System, iTero™ intraoral scanners, and exocad™ CAD/CAM software is helping doctors transform cases once considered complex into more predictable, efficient, and routine Invisalign treatment.

At the center of the Summit was the Align Innovation Hub, an immersive, hands-on environment where doctors explored digital workflows, technologies, and solutions through interactive stations and guided experiences.

• Invisalign for Kids – Showcasing how early intervention is being transformed through digital innovation, including how Invisalign First™, the Invisalign^® Palatal Expander System (IPE), and the digital workflow build confidence in interceptive care and complex growing-patient cases.
• Treatment Planning – Live, 1:1 clinical support to review ClinCheck^® Signature Experience preferences, including updates to the Invisalign Personalized Plan (IPP), so doctors could see treatment planning happen in minutes and with fewer modifications.
• In-Face Visualization – New features on Invisalign^® Outcome Simulator Pro (IOSim Pro) and ClinCheck^® software with 3D Tissue Animation, giving doctors more compelling ways to help patients see and understand what treatment can do.
• Flexible Portfolio – A deep dive into how Align delivers more predictable, efficient outcomes by giving doctors greater control and confidence in treatment planning and execution through the comprehensive Invisalign portfolio.
• Innovators Behind the Smile Studio – An interactive content-creation studio where doctors could create and record user-generated content while exploring best-practice creator tools for engaging today’s patients.

Eight additional areas highlighted next-generation digital orthodontics, including Align Innovations, Accessories, the Advantage Program, and Business Development & Practice Marketing.

Within the Hub, Align showcased a robust set of innovations designed to improve consistency, precision, and efficiency across clinical workflows:

• The Invisalign Specifix™ Attachment System, currently available in select locations through a limited market release, is a 3D-printed attachment solution that combines attachments 3D-printed to the exact shape and size indicated in the doctor’s treatment plan with a novel bonding accessory for precise placement.¹ The Specifix system is designed to reduce variability in attachment size and placement, increase consistency, and streamline the attachment workflow.
• Invisalign® integrated buttons – a new digital approach to the small, bonded accessories used to anchor elastics and apply targeted forces during treatment. Digitally integrated buttons incorporate button planning into the ClinCheck^® treatment planning workflow, replacing the standard manual process. With this digital approach, button type and position are determined within the software during treatment planning and doctors can modify as needed, helping to reduce chairside guesswork, improve placement accuracy, and deliver a more flexible, precise, and efficient bite correction.
• Invisalign^® Palatal Expander System with integrated hook features – a further evolution of Align’s 3D-printed palatal expander system designed to help doctors treat a broader range of patients with added flexibility. Building on the clinically effective² Invisalign^® Palatal Expander (IPE) System, the new forward- and backward-facing integrated hooks are compatible with elastics³, offering intuitive enhancements to palatal expansion with Class III or Class II treatments.
• Invisalign clear aligner custom trimline option gives doctors greater control over aligner gingival margins to support versatility with aesthetics, comfort, and clinical flexibility. In cases where doctors feel there is insufficient retention, they can consider an extended scalloped trimline for short clinical crowns, erupting dentition cases, preferences for fewer attachments, extended tooth coverage in gingival recession and in extending to include the undercut of the clinical crowns. Integrated directly into the ClinCheck® digital treatment planning workflow, custom trim lines allow doctors to personalize aligner design based on individual patient anatomy and treatment needs.
• New features in Invisalign^® Outcome Simulator Pro is a next-generation in-face simulation tool that allows patients to see potential treatment outcomes with realistic visualizations, including arch control and bite contact Occlusogram for improved engagement.
• 3D Tissue Animation is a new ClinCheck® feature designed to simulate how a patient’s facial soft tissue may change by the end of treatment, supporting aesthetic-focused planning and more personalized patient conversations.

Orthodontist-Led Sessions and Real-World Case Sharing

The Summit program featured orthodontist-led sessions covering complex cases, digital workflow optimization, and patient engagement strategies. Interactive formats including panels, breakout sessions, and live demonstrations that encouraged open dialogue and practical knowledge sharing.

• Independent validation of the Invisalign^® Palatal Expander System (IPE) – A clinical study by researchers at the University of Insubria, Italy found that the Invisalign^® Palatal Expander System was shown to effectively widen the upper jaw by opening the natural growth seam in the palate, achieving bone and bite changes similar to a traditional metal Hyrax expander. IPE also delivered more controlled and predictable results than Hyrax, supporting its use as a reliable option for growing patients and highlighting its role as a key step toward fully digital orthodontic care⁴.
